Acceleware Speeds Up Seismic Migration Processing for Absolute Imaging
CALGARY, Alberta – June 8, 2009 – Acceleware® Corp. (TSX-V: AXE) today announced that Absolute Imaging has selected Acceleware’s AxKTM acceleration solution to speed up their seismic data processing business. AxKTM dramatically improves Absolute’s capabilities for processing their customer’s geophysical data and helps to lower operating costs in their datacenter. Acceleware’s solution seamlessly integrates with Absolute Imaging’s in-house Kirchhoff Pre-Stack Time Migration (KPSTM) processing software, enabling it to leverage the massive processing power of GPUs.
“At Absolute Imaging we deal with multiple projects that consist of large data sets that need to be delivered in a timely fashion. Our success depends on providing accurate and quick turnaround of these mega projects to our clients. Utilizing Acceleware’s solution for our Kirchhoff Pre-Stack Time Migrations has enabled us to efficiently migrate large data sets and deliver our products on time and on budget,” said Elvis Floreani, VP Geophysics of Absolute Imaging.
The Acceleware (AxKTM™) solution allows KTM, which represents the core processing task for Absolute Imaging to run in a highly parallel manner on a cluster of GPUs. By adding GPUs to their computing environment, seismic processing is completed up to 15X faster. This speed-up allows Absolute Imaging to greatly increase their processing capacity all within the existing power, cooling and footprint constraints of their current datacenter. Operational efficiencies were also found with GPUs by reducing the number of physical machines and components, thus simplifying the datacenter.
“Acceleware offers accelerated products for both seismic migration and forward modelling”, said Ryan Schneider, Acceleware CTO. “Our seismic libraries have been specifically tuned to increase processing speed with the use of NVIDIA® Tesla™ GPUs.”
Acceleware’s seismic cluster technology consists of Acceleware’s software licenses to run on GPUs. The complete solution is capable of delivering a consistent speed up of 15X when comparing one GPU to one core of a processor.
