Acceleware and Kelman Technologies Deliver Accelerated Seismic Processing using GPUs
SC09 - Portland, OR – November 17, 2009 – Acceleware® Corp. (TSX-V: AXE) a leading developer of high performance computing applications, today announced successful acceleration of Kelman Technologies Inc.’s (Kelman) noise suppression and interpolation algorithms. By targeting their compute intensive code for GPUs, seismic processing at Kelman is now completed up to 5X faster on a single GPU compared to an 8-core (16 threads) state-of-the-art server. This speed-up allows Kelman to deliver faster turnaround cycles, reduce their processing costs and greatly increase their capacity all within the existing power, cooling and footprint constraints of their current datacenter.
“I am very impressed with the value that Acceleware delivered,” said Bert Beals, Chief Technology Officer at Kelman Technologies Inc. “By harnessing the parallel processing power of GPUs, we can engage in larger jobs for our customers while providing results faster than ever.”
“Seismic processing is a highly competitive business and Acceleware provides the technology and expertise to help processing vendors win in this business,” said Ryan Schneider, Acceleware CTO. “Kelman joins the growing list of Oil and Gas customers who have maximized the benefits of GPUs by engaging with the Acceleware team.”
