Seismic migration is a data processing technique for transforming data gathered by seismic reflection surveys into an image of the Earth's structure. Historically, seismic survey data were simply stacked together, reducing noise levels and producing a "stacked section". However, the true locations of reflections are generally misplaced in simple stacked sections.
